Easy Pulled Jackfruit

  • 1 can young unripe jackfruit*
  • 3/4 cup all-natural BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder

additional ingredients depending what you are making:

  • buns/taco shells/tortillas
  • lettuce/coleslaw
  • salsa
  • avocado/guacamole
  • grilled peppers/onions


  1. Rinse and drain the young jackfruit

  2. If using spices put the jackfruit in a bowl and mix all the spices into it

  3. Put the jackfruit in a pan, with a weeny bit of oil on medium heat and heat for about 5 minutes

  4. Add in the BBQ sauce and once it reaches a low boil let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally

  5. Assemble your meal depending on if you are making tacos, sandwiches, or burritos

Recipe Notes

*be sure the canned jackfruit is in water or brine not syrup.  You can find canned jackfruit in any Asian grocery store and some health food shops. I get mine from Noahs (in Toronto).
